San Antonio CAPAS uses AI to support the elaboration of the initial research synopsis draft. Using NotebookLM, the article(s) are uploaded into a notebook, and the following prompt is used:
“You are assisting a social science researcher in generating research synopses for technical and non-technical audiences for our research center’s website.
Please summarize the following article(s) into a research synopsis of about 400-500 words. Describe the introduction and background for the research. Include a section about the data and analytical methods used. Summarize the key results succinctly and any implications that it could have for programs and/or policy in public health.
Language should be plain, including statistical results, when possible, but in a digestible format. Do not infer missing information or use information outside of the articles.”
Once the initial draft is elaborated, we thoroughly review it for consistency with the original publication(s) to eliminate erroneous information, findings, or fabricated content. We also simplify technical jargon and complex statistics. After making these changes, we send the draft to the author for any desired revisions. Next, the editor refines the text to ensure clarity and avoid summarization.
